PRIVACY POLICY
Short version: we collect almost nothing, sell nothing and delete on request.
What we collect
Newsletter emails you submit voluntarily and anonymous pageview counts that never identify a person. Nothing else. No accounts, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no data brokers and no advertising profiles built behind your back.
How we use it
Emails receive the newsletter only, and you can unsubscribe with one click at the bottom of any message. Analytics stay in aggregate form: we see which guides are read, never who read them.
Cookies
We use a small number of functional cookies to remember display preferences. We do not run advertising cookies or third-party trackers. You can clear them at any time without breaking the site.
Your rights
Ask what we hold about you, correct it or delete it entirely by emailing contact us. Requests are answered within seven days, and deletion is permanent rather than a flag on a hidden record.
Children and safety
This site is written for adults and older students. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If a parent believes we hold a child’s email, we will remove it immediately on request.
Email and newsletter
When you subscribe, we store your address with our newsletter provider and use it only to send the letter you asked for. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe, and we delete addresses that bounce.
Analytics in plain words
Our analytics count visits, not visitors. We can see that a guide was read a thousand times, but not who read it, from where or on what device. Aggregated numbers help us decide what to research next.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS so traffic is encrypted in transit. We keep software patched and hold as little data as possible, which is the strongest privacy measure there is.
Third parties
We do not embed advertising networks or social trackers. If a page links to an outside site, that site’s own policy applies once you leave. We choose links to official sources and encyclopaedias, not data harvesters.
Retention
Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe. Support emails are kept for a year so we can follow up, then deleted. Analytics data is aggregated and contains nothing personal.
Do not sell requests
Under laws such as the CCPA you can ask a business not to sell your data. We never sell data, so there is nothing to stop. We will still confirm this in writing if you ask.
Changes and contact
If our practices change, we update this page and note the date. For any privacy question, email contact us with the subject PRIVACY. We reply within seven days and will explain exactly what, if anything, we hold on you.
